Where
to use: All exterior wood surfaces, such as decks, fences, siding,
and outdoor furniture; and all types of wood such as redwood, cedar, fir, and
pressure treated.
Surface
Preparation: Do Not Apply Over Sealed Surfaces. All surfaces must be clean and free from dirt,
mildew, soot, dust, and other foreign matter. Remove previous oxidized stains and sealers
with SuperdeckWood Cleaner. New
wood that has not been kiln dried must be allowed to season before applying
product. New wood may be clean enough to
directly apply stain. If not, or if wood has mill glaze, clean redwood and cedar
surfaces with SuperdeckWood Brightener; clean pressure treated
wood surfaces with Wood Cleaner. Weathered
wood should be cleaned with Wood Cleaner and rinsed. For redwood and cedar, follow with Wood
Brightener to remove tannin stains and brighten wood to its original color.
Product
Preparation: Product should be stirred from bottom of container before
and during application. Do not shake. Shaking will create excess air in product. If shaken, allow air to escape before
application. When using more than one
container of product, intermix all product and stir well to ensure color
consistency.
Thinning:
None required.
Application
Methods: Apply product by brush, sprayer, roller, or pad applicator. Back rolling is suggested when spraying,
working the product smoothly and evenly into the wood. This will decrease the possibility of pools
and puddles on the surface and ensure a proper dry time and appearance of
finish.
Application:
Proper application is essential in order to accomplish the full benefits of
product appearance and performance. Different
wood species, textures, and natural color will affect finished shade. Always
test a small area before doing entire job. When spraying, saturate surface leaving a wet
sheen. Then back brush or roll in a
smooth even coat. Maintain a wet edge
and apply product in entire board lengths to avoid lapping. Apply only as much product as the wood will
absorb. Do not allow product to pool or
puddle on surface. Thoroughly seal the
porous ends of all boards with several coats of product.
Application
Temperature: 50OF. - 90OF. Do not apply if wood surface is hot to touch
or if rain is likely to occur.
Number
of Coats: Apply only as much product as the wood will absorb. One coat is recommended for very smooth dense
wood surfaces. Two coats are recommended
for rough sawn or very porous wood surfaces.
Dry
Time @ 77O F: 1 hour to touch, 2-4 hours to re-coat, 24 hours for foot
traffic. Dry time can be affected by
species of wood, porosity of wood, wood moisture content, and weather
conditions.
