super-looking wood from the experts at Superdeck.
Protect Your Investment with Superdeck's One-Coat System
Superdeck stains saves you time and money with a specially
formulated one-coat system.
Apply Superdeck only at a rate which the wood can absorb
for best penetration.
The darker the stain color, the longer the color will
last.
The final color will vary depending on the wood age,
type and texture.
Always test a small area first for color satisfaction.
Choosing the Right Product
For new cedar, redwood, and hardwoods Superdeck Exterior Transparent Stain gives
a beautiful and translucent finish that will highlight the wood grain pattern.
Superdeck Exterior Transparent Stain for pressure-treated wood is
specially formulated to convert the color of pressure treated wood into a
natural wood tone
Superdeck Semi-Transparent
Stain gives extra color and coverage, and is an excellent choice for older
woods that have been damaged or faded. A semi-transparent stain provides more
hide than a transparent stain, but does not completely hide the wood grain like
a solid.
For complete hide choose Superdeck Solid Color Deck Stain, which
provides opaque (solid) coverage to wood.
To protect log home siding, choose Superdeck Log Home Oil Finish for
superior resistance to harsh climates.
Application Methods
Brushing is the
preferred method of application. Brushing works well on all surfaces and
provides smooth and even coverage. Natural bristle brushes are recommended,
although poly or pad applicators can be used.
Roller applicators
work well on rough sawn surfaces. Use a short to medium nap roller.
Garden sprayers are a
quick and efficient means of application. Back brush after spraying to
eliminate pools and puddles.
Airless sprayers are
the preferred method for large jobs. Use the lowest setting and a large orifice
tip to obtain a reasonable spray pattern and to avoid a fine mist. Back brush
after spraying to eliminate pools and puddles.
Tips for Success
To ensure color consistency, Superdeck should be shaken
or stirred before and during use. Intermix all gallons to be used for large
jobs.
If wood is too hot to touch, it is too hot to stain.
The ideal hours to apply stain are morning hours or late
afternoons.
If moisture is visible or it has rained recently, the
wood is too wet to stain.
Allow new wood to season for 3-4 weeks before staining.
New wood can have some discoloration caused by
extractive bleeding or mill glaze that should be removed with Superdeck Wood
Brightener.
Clean old wood with Superdeck Wood Cleaner to remove
dirt, grease, mold and other foreign substances.
Without the proper care, the beauty and value of your wood can be tarnished by dirt, mold, mildew, tannin bleed, failed coatings and other enemies. Superdeck can help.
If your wood is weathered or has dirt, grime, mold or mildew present...GO BLUE -- Wood Cleaner!
If you are going to use a light-toned or clear coating, and to remove tannin and rust stains...GO YELLOW -- Wood Brightener!
If your wood has a previous coating or a build-up of coatings and you want to bring it back to bare wood....GO GREEN -- Wood Stripper!
New cedar and redwood contains high levels of tannin and may start to gray or blacken within the first year and after cleaning. If so, use Superdeck Wood Brightener.
By keeping your deck free of debris, leaves and dirt, you can expect the color of your stain to last much longer.
The life expectancy of all stains depends on weather conditions, exposure and type of wood. Generally, Superdeck stains will last 2 to 3 years on horizontal surfaces and 3 to 5 years on vertical surfaces.
