| Misting Finishes for Concrete |
| Misting Creates a Granite Look | |
Misting creates a granite look that is easy to achieve by spraying or sprinkling wet stain on dry stain. Just use darker shades as an accent over the base coat. Customize your home's look by creating your own color combinations for a finish that looks like natural stone!
- Prepare concrete surface according to label directions. Following all label application directions, spray base coat color on clean, bare concrete surface, staining entire area.
- Allow concrete surface to dry for at least 4 hours before applying misted accents.
- Using a small handheld spray mister or pump-up sprayer, lightly spray the darker accent color over the base coat to achieve a granite stone look. Practice spraying on a piece of cardboard or newspaper to determine distance to spray from, and adjust the sprayer nozzle to achieve the mist grain size you desire.
- If using a third color, wait 4 hours after applying the second color to avoid colors blending together.
- For added protection, wait until stain has dried for at least 4 hours, then apply Mason's Select Clear Concrete Sealer in Satin for a matte finish or Gloss for a "wet-look" finish. Clear sealers will not yellow, crack or peel and will provide added protection against UV rays, hot tire pick-up and automotive fluids.
